We had the ceilings redone in a couple of rooms around 8 years ago and fitted this type of light. One of them has now stopped working but we're unable to remove it fully to change it. Any tips on removing them without damaging the ceiling?

We can get it out so far but then it won't come any further.

Can you go above it. They usually have clips on the top of the ceiling boards which you pinch together to release. So if the space above is the attic you could go there and do it from above

It's a downstairs room so can't get to it from the ceiling. DH has been trying to do it but maybe I'll have a go (much smaller hands) and see if I can feel for the clips.

From above the ceiling that should have said.

You might need to lift a floor board or two above it then. If you know the make and model you could Google the installation diagrams which will help you decide.

RealisticSketch thanks. Fingers crossed we won't need to do that.

You're welcome, hope it's simple. 😁

Try this (I had to do this once and it wasn't quite as easy it appeared!)

They’re usually spring loaded .
When we had to change ours we did end up with a little damage but luckily the new spots covered that as they were a little wider in diameter.
