Garden house as office?

Hi, has anyone bought a garden house to use as a home office, and if so what are the pros/cons? Also roughly how much did it cost?

I'm currently pregnant and our home office will eventually become the babies room. We do plan to renovate our attic (eventually) but in the shorter term I'm wondering would a garden house provide the extra room that we need. With covid and home working our office is now used daily.

We have just ordered one, overall cost £13.5k, insulated, double skinned, double glazed, power & light, data points, outside plug, rubber roof. We looked at lots of options, ours is on order should be installed May, no planning permission required, as it falls under permitted development, but you need to check as not all of them do. There are loads of options, with lots of different price points & varying in quality, we need to use ours all year round. We have ordered our from a local supplier who provides bespoke solutions & has great reviews.

Unless it has a toilet/bathroom and how far away to the house. I have a garden room that serves a gym and office but no toilet nor bathroom. It's almost 30m away from my house. It's lovely but without toilet, I wouldn't call it a room.

We have a cabin which we have converted to a gym and two topics. Can't help on price as it was already here. Has a concrete base and is fairly substantial. We have electric heaters and broad band but no toilet, is about 50m from house and not an issue going back to use the toilet !

We have just built one that we bought from Dunster House. The cabin itself was about £3,800 but the insulation you need to buy, the flooring, lighting, power etc. will push it up by another couple of thousand minimum I think.
You also have to work out how to heat it and that can be fairly expensive if you go with electric heaters. We plan to use it as an office/summer house.
It does look great, but typing all of that out makes me think maybe I should have paid a bit more and had someone do it all as a previous poster (sorry can't look back at your name!!) has written above!

Following! Not something we would do in our current house with TINY garden, but if home working goes on much longer, we may as well move! Only in this area for proximity to London.

Just in the heating element I would add it can be fairly expensive - in the cold snap it was costing us £4 a day to heat.

We have one and they are brilliant for when kids are very small because it means the person working there can get away from the kids. Eg I could work there whilst someone was watching my kids in house and it stopped them bothering me!

I have a cabin that was here when we moved in. It is double skinned, double glazed and well insulated, albeit the doors leave a lot to be designed.

My brother has a bedroom on one side (he's currently building a house) and my office is the 2nd room.

I live in North East Scotland and have refused to sit out there for the last couple of months, instead taking my chances with toddler invasions during meetings.

It is perfectly possible to heat with an electric heater, but the heat dissipates quickly (there is more we could do to draft proof etc we just haven't yet). So definitely think about heating source.

Its a lovely space for 7-8 months though and when my brother moves out the 2 rooms will be great extra space. We hope eventually to pop in an ensuite to make it a guest suite.

Just had one built by a local company. Log cabin (so single skin) but floor and roof are well insulated, double glazed door and windows. Electricity and WiFi. Cost 8k including the levelling the base. Its not massive though - 8x8 ft. So a good size for an office or a small playroom. I'm in Herts if you want the recommendation.

Use the money to extend into the loft.
