Do you mean the walls?

"One coat" is a trade off against durability and price.

Sunflowergirl1 · 03/03/2021 12:45

There isn't to my knowledge...the second coat is always the best

In my experience the first coat is always patchy no matter what it claims on the tin.

AnnieAreYouOkHun · 03/03/2021 12:58

Unless your keeping it the same colour and are just freshening it up.

Two coats that dry fast and cover well are better than one crappy coat. Just get normal Dulux matt.

Doing a second coat really doesn't take that much time vs clearing, prepping, taping off the walls etc

To save time/coats, try to go for a similar colour. Prep the lot, Do bathroom 1st, then the 3 bedrooms. By time you have finished, all will be dry for 2nd coat.

Save time by painting the lot same colour & don't wash brushes/roller (if you need to leave for a while, wrap in clingflilm/plastic bags. If you can use plain white the ceilings can be same colour too so that saves time (if you like the look)

I've used Dulux Jasmine white for my most recent paint jobs, like the off white colour & coverage, find 2 coats fine.

I could do this myself in 2-3 days

  • similar colour to the existing walls

We did 2 coats of Dulux Trade Diamond recently, best paint I've used and a really even smooth coat.

I'd guess you might just get away with one coat if you aren't changing the colour much.

I agree that that only truly 'one coat' paint is a refresh of whatever is already on the walls.

Fair enough! Thanks all
