Bi fold or ultra thin frame sliding door for kitchen living room

About to start kitchen extension and currently have very narrow frame black sliding doors (the two take about 2.5m snd a modern window seat 1m x 140cm tell factored in to the plans and liked the idea of less frame and more glass that sliding doors offer and the fact that window would add interest but having a wobble snd wondering if more traditional dark grey framed bi folds all the way across (approx 5m) would be better. Would love to hear which you have chosen and if you’re happy with your decision . Our house is a Victorian terrace and room will look onto our south facing garden. The new room will have sofas etc and Tv at this end of the extension and kitchen at the other I see us spending a lot of time in there so want to get it right - help please

Our house is a very modern, architect-designed self build. We spent ages thinking about bifolds, but went with a MASSIVE sliding door for our open-plan living space. Really pleased with it. More glass, like you say.

We have big sliding doors in the lounge and main bedroom going out into the garden / terrace and would always choose these over bi folds. It’s much nicer having a large expanse of glass.

Also bi folds are a PITA especially with small children I imagine. They will probably leave toys etc lying around outside and if the door is closed and you want to open it from the inside you will have to go out and move them. We have electric raffstore blinds outside which need about 10cm clearance to close and they often get blocked by the kids having left something on the terrace floor. Bi folds will need much more clearance than that.

I have bifolds and absolutely love them. The house is a little victorian semi which I extended out and across the return. The doors go across the full width of the house and the feeling of space when fully open is wonderful. I couldn't have that total open space with sliding doors.
I have never had any problems with things blocking the doors opening. My dd was 3 when the extension was done 13 years ago and toys etc were never an issue.

Thanks - if anyone has pics that would be great for those with sliding doors did you have them all the way across ? We’re currently looking at 2 sliding doors that take up 2.5m then a large window seat which I’m now reconsidering as o guess it means when they slide back we’ll only have 1.25m open bit of we went all the way across then we could have about 3m open as house eidth about 5m and would probably end up with 3 large doors to slide bank to one

We have doors across the entire width, folding back to the left. Instead of a window seat we have a small lightweight futon company sofa which is currently against the doors but will be moved to the right hand wall for summer when we want to open the doors regularly.
The doors are 3m37cm in total.
