How do you successfully paint new mdf?

I have an office with two walls lined floor to ceiling in new thick mdf shelving. I am losing the will to live painting it, it's never ending. I did two coats of Zinsser bin, then one coat of supposedly one-coat primer undercoat. But that still looked quite patchy. And now I've begun the topcoat. One topcoat won't be enough, it'll need at least two if not 3. In total that'll be 6 times around the bloody room! It's exhausting! Is there not a better way? Top coat is eggshell.

Oh no! I've just started on a first coat of Zinsser. Hoped it would be an easy job. I even put it on thinly.

Hopefully someone will come by with some wise words.

What colour was the mdf to start with? Luckily all our skirting have a white layer on them already but the bath panel is currently green so if anything like your experience it'll take a while.

Frenchic paint

The mdf was brown with a green core. The super strong stuff to bear the weight of all my books & folders

Have just finished painting MDF panelling - I used MDF primer from BQ, applied with a mini roller and then 2-3 coats of F&B modern emulsion. Looks great even if I do say so.

Is it easily dismantleable? The only reason I ask is that I’ve just had alcove bookcases fitted in MDF and the cabinet maker had the pieces pre-sprayed. Any chance you can do that?
