Freeholder sitting on buildings insurance claim

I live in a leasehold flat. The block has buildings insurance - the cost of which we contribute to as part of our service charge.

There was a leak from the outside of the building into my flat which has caused damage. The managing agent facilitated the repair and then we submitted quotes to them to make good the damage inside the flat. Though the managing agent has forwarded the quotes (which are very fair - and we got three of them, at their request) to the freeholder, the freeholder won't approve them/submit them to the insurance company. They have done sweet f* all with them for almost a year, despite lots of prompting from us via the managing agent. They are doing the same with other leaseholders, so it's not just us but I simply don't know what else to do. I've spoken to the insurance broker but he won't do anything about the claim without the freeholder's permission.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get the bloody claim through?

You should be able to go directly to the insurer

Normally the managing agents deals with the claim through the insurance company directly. Ive never heard of it having to go via the landlord before.

Thank you for your reply but doesn't the form let the insurance company know there will be a claim, rather than giving me the power to make a claim?
