Mid terrace loft conversion

We live in a bog standard 3 bed mid-terrace house and were starting to think about the possibility of a loft conversion for a bit of extra space. Identical houses near us have had one done with a velux type window in the front and a dormer on the back so it's obviously possible.

However, we already have a 3m ground floor, flat roof extension at the back, so i'm wondering if a loft conversion is even possible as there would be nowhere to put the scaffolding? Has anyone had one done in this situation? I haven't contacted any builders/architects yet as I don't want to get my heart set on it if it's not even possible! Wasn't sure if it was a complete no go or if they would have some creative scaffolding solutions!

Looking out of the window I can see a house backing on to us that has both but they may have done the loft first then the ground floor extension after.

Most decent scaffolders have ways to give the required safe access.

It may be a case of providing a support on your extension roof to stand the scaffold on.

I'm sure others will be along soon who have actually had this issue and how it was solved.

Sorry can't help but I have the same query!

An architect we spoke to suggested a flat roof ground extension so a future roof extension scaffold could rest on top of it!

I'm interested in real world experience too.
