Do fitters take a cut from Howdens/benchmark?

I've found a fitter, seems good, but when I said I was thinking of getting kitchen from DIY he's sent me an email saying if he were me he'd pay a bit more for Howdens or Benchmarx as quicker to install and easier to swap if faulty.

Now I'm thinking he gets a cut from them as it goes through his 'account'?

Does anyone know? I'm unsure about using him now.

Thanks

Look at this thread Howden's kitchens: builder's discount

Thank you @TwoLeftSocksWithHoles that's an eye opener!

I just had a match quote from DIY.

Howdens £10k
Benchmarx £9.5k
DIY £3.5k (not inc the applicances though so equivalent would be about £6k.

All then plus fitting.

It's a no brainer.

Am now looking for a new fitter who won't be trying to sway me to make himself a profit.

I've always had the Howden bill me direct (though bought through fitters account) with discounts of 60% or more (if a builder uses them a lot I imagine they get a better discount). I've used a couple different fitters and that's the key- a lousy fitter will ruin a decent kitchen, so don't just go on price.

We had a kitchen fitted in our previous house - it was actually a Magnet kitchen. The fitter said that he charges the cost price (i.e what he pays through his trade account), others may add some kind of surcharge.

However what ours said was that ready assembled was better - what you save in flat packed in lost in extra time needed by the fitter.
