Window repair in rental property?

StaceyLWard · 20/02/2021 18:54

I'm currently in a rented room in a house share. My window is a sash window and has just got stuck and will not close. I'm going to report it to the letting agent. Who will have to pay for the repair? It looks like the chord is stuck? I can't afford to pay for the repair and it just suddenly happened.

Any help would be appreciated?

Landlord. I am one and I'd pay, unless it was obvious you broke it.

Check your tenancy agreement carefully but tell agency immediately because it will need to be fixed asap. Landlord should be invoiced for that. I'm accidentally landlording my own house ATM and I'd want to know as soon as it happened.
You may need to be around for tradesmen if landlord is not close by. Doubt an agency rep will agree to come over.

Yes, landlord, unless very obviously your fault.

Landlord. I’d expect to be told about this ASAP, for your comfort and to prevent potential further damage if the window is failing
