What colour shall we make our shower

Hello all

We are having our bath replaced with a large shower. Rather than retiling the whole bathroom we are gonna basicallt have the shower tiles a different colour.

What colour should we go for....the walls around where the bath currently is will be enclosed within the shower.

I am a massive blue lover but don't want it to look garish!

I think a toned down blue like a De Nimes sort of colour could work

You might want to try to have some blue bits elsewhere like a blue soap bottle on the sink to tie it in

I would avoid green tinged blues like teals as they could make the floor look more yellowy

I would have a tone of the wall tiles elsewhere. Dark blue or any blue would be odd. I would go for textured tiles. Large format if you can. Porcelanosa have wonderful textures tiles.

Very pale blue would be nice, or perhaps, if there are a few blues in the range, you could do dark blue at the bottom and fade up to white (to match the rest) at the top with a couple of mid blues inbetween. Or a mixture of the blues/white in the cubicle area.

If you have hard water steer clear of the darker colours as the limescale shows!

What about navy? navy could work

but yes not if you have limescale issues

I would worry that adding another colour in such a large area would clash, because you already have 2 quite different colours in the bathroom - the beige wall/floor tiles and dark brown wood of the sink unit.

I'd personally try to blend those 2 colours together by choosing new tiles with various shades of beige and brown in them (perhaps with white and/or grey too since those colours are also in the room). Choose whatever style best suits your taste - maybe mosaic, or a flecked stone effect, or Victorian style mixed patterns might be nice?

By staying with neutral tones in the tiles, you could then still add a bolder colour in accessories (candles/soap dispenser/towels)- perhaps a duck egg blue?
