House under offer for months - likelihood of falling through?

We visited a house in the middle of November which we liked but they accepted an offer from someone else. I notice that it’s still listed as “under offer” in Rightmove. I’m not sure if it’s just not been updated on the site or if it genuinely is still under offer. If still under offer what’s the likelihood that it could fall through after about 3 months in this status? The buyer is selling their deceased mum’s house so doesn’t have a chain going so maybe is willing to wait a long time. But do such offers usually have a time limit where they can open again and accept new offers?
We’re in Scotland.
Thanks.

You could call the agent and say you’re still looking so if the property doesn’t complete to let you know.

I had a house that took 10 months to go through.
Probate could be involved so there might be no end in sight, and who knows what the buyers situation might be, they could be very content to wait.
Just phone the estate agent. I wouldn’t hold your breath that they will keep you on record, but they’ll tell you if it’s not for sale.

In England sales are taking a lot longer to go through. At very stage people are busy, land registry is very slow, mortgage providers, solicitors and inundated etc. November to February is really not that long and it's up to the parties involved how long they are willing to wait.

Register your interest with the EA, things do fall though sometimes.

Some estate agents only ever put things on as under offer, ours never changed it to Sold stc even after we'd exchanged. Try and find other sold houses by the same EA and see if they all say under offer, chances are that us just what the EA uses if they all say the same.

Ours is under offer and has been since early jan because our buyer is so slow. Driving me bits but he’s adamant he wants it. Cash buyer and no chain..

We agreed our purchase in November, and we're still waiting to exchange contracts. It could have been earlier, but we couldn't get the survey done until just before Christmas as they were so busy. Then a couple of minor issues came out of that, and a few things the solicitors are still debating now and yeah...here we are. Soon, hopefully. Soon. Soon.

In Scotland the law would prevent this unless the sale fully fell through. Scottish sales fall through generally a lot less frequently than English sales as the survey is already done and the solicitors are already engaged at offer stage.
It’s likely there is just some back and forth about an entry date.
