I want a wall of floor to ceiling kitchen cupboards - will this be possible with a high street retailer?

It depends on the height of your ceilings. We have standard 2.4m height ceilings and have the floor to ceiling look thanks to cornicing. Similar to this: www.thomasjamesbespoke.co.uk/post/kitchen-cornicing-should-your-kitchen-design-include-a-cornice

Our kitchen was from DIY Kitchens

I've just measured and the ceiling is a standard height - 2.4m. I'm desperate for the storage space and want to make the most of the space.

yes, you can have tall units with a 2400 ceiling.

Depending on the range you look at, you may need or want top-boxes on top of their standard units. You will not be able to reach them without a stepladder. Don't put anything in them that will injure you when it falls on your head.

Consider a Library Chair for your kitchen.

The space is needed for things that only come out once a year, so we won't be accessing it regularly. I love the library chair idea though - thank you @PigletJohn !

I also need the cupboards to be narrow from front to back - the same depth as a wall cupboard, but all the way to the floor. Can high street kitchen providers make such a thing or do I need a joiner?

you can buy one, made to order in whatever dimensions and colour you wish. For example one I had but you will have to navigate to his shop as he is not selling on ebay due to lockdown. Compare his prices to your supplier.

The doors, you will need to get from whichever range you buy.

Yes I got mine from IKEA.

If you want the base part of a tall (tower) unit to be the same as a wall unit (so, approx 30cm deep rather than approx 60cm ) you can use wall units as bases. For example, a tall wall unit is usually 90cm which is similar in height to a base unit. Or, as you say, you can buy standard tall tower units and have someone reduce the depth of the carcass.

Brilliant, thank you everyone.
