What flooring is suitable for energetic 1 and 3 year old and a husband with ADHD?

We need to get new flooring throughout the house (except kitchen and bathroom). What flooring will last well with two very energetic young children? It also has to be able to cope with spills that aren't immediately cleaned up as my husband often spills a drink, goes to get a cloth, then gets distracted and the spillage doesn't get cleaned. I mention this because most of the flooring I've read about says you have to clean spills immediately. How important is this with each flooring type?

The alternative is get cheap flooring and replace when the kids are older but i'd still want it to look nice so I think that I might be being optimistic there.

Please help. I can't research flooring any more! What would you recommend that looks nice, will cope with family life and doesn't cost the earth? Thank you!

With "left" spills I think it needs to be waterproof laminate (you might need to get it professionally laid and sealed for the extra guarantee) or vinyl. Obviously high end vinyl (LVT) is lovely and very waterproof but I'd personally find it odd underfoot in a bedroom. Waterproof laminate (the sort able to be used in bathrooms and kitchens) feels more suitable for any room to me since it mimics real wood.

I have oak laminate ( the most expensive available) and it does everything you want and I think looks great. Also not as harsh as tiles when little ones fall over.

Oh and I think any flooring manufacturer will suggest that spills are cleaned immediately - it's seems to be standard practice in the blurb. But it's easy to miss spills, so imo any floor designed for (wet) bathroom use should be fine in other rooms in the house!

I have LVT but it’s click lock (fitted like laminate rather than glued down). It’s the Moduleo LayRed range. It’s waterproof and spills can easily be wiped up. Some ranges are smooth and some are textured with a fake wood grain which could hide small scratches.

I have engineered wood downstairs and carpet upstairs.
My adhd teen had dented the wooden floor In 2 spots due to him having a couple of aggressive meltdowns (throwing things) but it's not really noticeable. easy to clean and I'm really pleased with it.
I have pale grey carpet on stairs and bedrooms, thankfully it wasn't crazy expensive from carpet right and is bleachable... when I hoover I scrub with a bit of fairy and washing up sponge the carpet in spots that I notice where he has spilt anything (I've given up with no food upstairs) it's always comes up clean and my carpet looks spotless

We varnished our floorboards (ADHD husband did a very large house over a single week - sanding and varnishing!) It's lasted well so far, with three children (one with ADHD) and a large dog. Our thinking was that it's easy enough to re-sand and re-varnish of necessary. In our old house we went with cheap carpets - they looked bad very quickly.

Laminate. We have laminate because it's easy to clean and relatively cheap. The only place we have carpet is the stairs and we went with quite a cheap one. We have a toddler so assumed things would get wrecked so didn't want to spend the earth. She spills and drops things all the time, a carpet in living areas would be totally ruined. We have a cheap rug that takes up most of the floor space in the living room to make it cosier. It's bright colours too so nothing pale that would stain easily. We had a secondhand rug in the dining room for awhile but it was getting ruined from DD so we removed that about a year ago. I would like a little rug for DD's bedroom actually though.
