Changing employer mid mortgage application

Hi, need advice.
I currently work at an NHS site in the south as a clinician, due to a military posting (DH) we were moved to bucks in August. My role by that point was 100% virtual, so NHS employer (very kindly) said I could remain until the job changed back to face to face. Since moving we have found a house (our first) had an offer accepted and are waiting on our vendor to find their property to create the chain as we are renting.
Trouble is.. I can see that as lockdown unlocks my job is becoming more untenable.
I’d love to stay within the NHS but there are no roles here currently that I can switch to. I can’t do agency as I think you can’t get a mortgage application based on this... but I believe you can change to another permanent employer? Is this right? If our current mortgage application times out and I’ve changed jobs will we then need to wait 3 months before we can apply again?
I’m stuck! And I don’t want to lose this house.

Depends on the lender. A lot of lenders will be ok with it as long is the new job is in the same sort of role/industry and you will probably have to provide the first payslip and employment contract. A lot of lenders just want to evidence continuous employment for say 6 months

Yes you'd need to wait till you've finished your probationary period at any new job.

Not true with all lenders
Sprig1 · 15/02/2021 19:22

The cast majority of lenders will want you to have completed your probation period before they lend to you.

How about a guarantor?? X

I've just checked the criteria for Halifax which is the biggest mortgage lender, and they don't have a problem with a probationary period as long as it's part of a permanent contract. Where did you get the idea that the vast majority of lenders won't accept it?
ComtesseDeSpair · 15/02/2021 20:31

I’ve been able to take out mortgages with both Halifax and NatWest with just confirmation of employment being offered. You need to check, but if you’re taking a new permanent contract most mainstream lenders accept it. It isn’t an uncommon scenario, plenty of people relocate for new jobs and don’t have an issue with a mortgage.

My son accepted a new permanent job when his mortgage application was being processed. He was with Nationwide and they didn’t have any problem with this. He had to produce a copy of his employment contract but no need to wait for end of probationary period.

I was in a new role for 1 month and still had a mortgage all fine just had to send my contract aswell.

I changed job halfway through our remortgage last year, TSB had no issue with it, they just wanted to see my payslip to confirm wage.

Once you've had your credit checks and the offer they won't check employment again in my experience so how would they actually know?
