Gutter cleaning and possible repair costs?

Hello
Anyone have a ball park figure for a gutter cleaning and possible repair service on a small end terrace house with side garage and conservatory on the back? Mine really need clearing of leaves and moss especially at the back of the house and one piece has a large chip in which water overflows from onto the patio.
I don't have ladders and even if I did I would rather pay someone tbh.
I realise it's a bit 'how long is a piece of string' question but I have really no idea.

I'm in the S.E. if that's any help in terms of area influencing prices.

Not much, our window cleaner adds it on occasionally and it's like £20ish I think? If you have one then maybe start with them. Won't help with the repair though but it's not a hard job so again wouldn't expect too much for a replacement.

20 quid?! It can be a lot. And I mean a lot. Hundreds. It usually needs scaffolding. They’re not allowed to use ladders.

Ifailed · 15/02/2021 13:13

They’re not allowed to use ladders.

Of course people can use ladders! The Work at Height Regulations 2005 make for an interesting bed-time read.

I live in a tall three story house and I had a leaking gutter just a fortnight ago and he definitely used a ladder.

Four bed detached house here, gutter clean and minor repairs £100, and no, no scaffolding just a ladder.

Lucky me I guess!

I was quoted £25 per run for cleaning using a suction device mounted on a pole with cameras.

Oh thanks all, that's encouraging!!!

Tall 3 story Victorian house - all new gutters and down pipes fitted, all on ladders. Mind you it still cost £1400! They’ve told me having them cleaned will be £200.

I had my roof repaired just before xmas as some tiles were broken...also had garage roof fixed as i had a leak...and gutters cleaned all for £250....this was an older guy with his ladder....scaffolding will really hike the price up.

Chumleymouse · 15/02/2021 20:48

Why are people not allowed to use ladders ?? I see people on ladders all the time doing a multitude of things . What a strange comment ?

Sprig1 · 15/02/2021 20:53

Ladders are for access, not for working. You need to be v careful. You are responsible for the health and safety of people working on your property. If there was an accident due to someone falling from a ladder, working on your house, you could be liable.

IggyAce · 15/02/2021 21:02

Our window cleaner clears gutters he charged £30 for front & back.

lazyakita · 15/02/2021 21:07

Three story house, gutter clean was £20 and a fix on a leaking piece of guttering was £10.

Starseeking · 15/02/2021 21:30

Our gutter clean 3 months ago cost £95. They did minor repairs as well. I was surprised it was so cheap, but it seemed to be the going rate as I called round for quotes, and the job took about 45 minutes.

We're in a 3 double bed Edwardian semi, with 3 receptions and separate kitchen, so the house is slim and long.

Fuss · 15/02/2021 22:23

Standard 4 bed detached, Midlands. I was quoted £140 in october.

Ifailed · 16/02/2021 06:42

You are responsible for the health and safety of people working on your property.

If you give them directions, such as "use a ladder at this point", then yes. But most people don't get involved in how someone does a job at their house, the people doing the work are responsible for their own safety.

Dinosauraddict · 16/02/2021 06:49

Large 5 bed 3 storey Edwardian - had gutters cleaned in Dec and it was £125. They didn't use ladders or scaffolding they had a very nifty very long tool on a stick (clearly a lot more technical than that) and it cleaned all gutters beautifully with the man stood on the ground. Took c. 2 hours though.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/02/2021 06:49

My window cleaner charges £10 per run to clear out gutters, so £20 for just the high ones. We do the lower ones ourselves.

Chumleymouse · 16/02/2021 12:32

You can’t beat a nifty long tool on a stick 🤣. Great description 👍
