Boiler condensate pipe freezing - how to insulate

Obviously been really cold the last few nights and 3 times my boiler condensate pipe has frozen up causing my boiler to shut down. I have defrosted it but been told to get insulation for it. It's a 5cm plastic pipe - I can't seem to find anything wide enough at wickes/b&q etc. Where do I get wide enough lagging??

Thanks dementedpixie - looks like its popular stuff as on back order. At least it looks slightly warmer for the next few days Smile

Just get some lagging and tape it in place for now. You could always box it in and line the boxing

If possible, have a plumber run a pipe to an indoor waste pipe, for example the one for the kitchen sink or dishwasher. Possibly running it inside or behind kitchen units.

It may be more effort than poking the pipe through a hole in the wall, but not when you consider the inconvenience and work of a frozen pipe.

The outdoor insulation needs to be a durable grade that withstands sunlight , Armaflex make one, it looks like shiny black rubber. The one in dementedpixie's link looks similar.
