Range or separate hob and oven?

I'm beginning to plan out our new kitchen and am tossing up whether to have an induction range or an eye height double oven in a tall unit, with separate induction hob opposite. We are a family of four so we don't necessarily need the capacity of a large range cooker but we'd definitely need at least a double oven... I like the idea of a range because it's one less tall unit (freeing up worktop space) but then I also like the idea of not having to bend down to put stuff in the oven.

So that's basically a very long winded way of asking what you have and do you love it or wish you'd chosen something else?!

I have a large oven, 95 cm wide and absolutely love it. The ovens I have seen in tall unit are a lot smaller. An issue I would consider is where to put the dishes you remove from oven. I often open oven door, lift dish on stove, mix or add stuff, and then back in, I don’t have to travel or turn with a boiling dish in my hands.

I do love the look of a range cooker, but for me as I'm getting older the bending down thing is a deal breaker.

So what I have is a five burner gas hob with an eye level electric double oven. They are next to each other with space to put down dishes we've removed from the oven. It works really well for us and I'll keep the set up when we eventually change our kitchen.

I have a range ( with 900 wide oven) and a single oven and microwave built up in a tall housing so best of both. Mostly I use the single oven as only cooking for three. But when the rest of the family visit, the bigger oven is a godsend.

We had a range in our previous kitchen and I loved it. It suited the kitchen and our DCs were living at home.
When DCs left we moved to a house with eye level built in double oven and separate induction hob, which I also love. So not much help, but on balance I’d probably go for the separate units.

Thanks all for your feedback! I'm really torn between which is the better option. The kitchen area isn't huge and I'm going for a very pared back, minimalist look so I wonder if a hob an eye level oven would work better...

Making expensive adult decisions is hard!

I had a range before our kitchen refurb and now have wall ovens (one on top of the other - I’m short and DH is tall so this suits!) and separate induction hob.

I prefer this set up - it avoids getting heavy pots and pans out of a low level oven which was always a bit risky. However you do need to plan where you will put hot items from the oven, make sure you have some worksurface near enough.

I’ve never found I needed a 900 oven rather than a 600.

We’re having both! Double oven and a separate range.

Range cookers do look lovely but not my style. I prefer eye level oven, so much easier to clean. I have a 90cm glass hob on the worktop. Looks a lot neater this way

I originally wanted a range when we put together our kitchen from scratch about a decade ago, but when push came to shove I decided that an induction hob and two ovens would be more practical for me. The top oven is at my eye level and is a combination (includes a microwave). The bottom oven is a Neff with the door that slides under, making it considerably easier to get into to use/clean. Ten years on I'm still happy with my choice.
