Please help with my tiny bathroom layout

After years of saving , we are finally ready for a new bathroom.
It is 6ft x 7ft and I need a separate bath / shower. I just can not seem to get the layout right though! The door is facing the window and that is the 6ft bit...so its kind of square. I do not mind if we have to move anything round as it all has to come out anyway. Any suggestions would be so helpful. TIA

Is it a rectangular bathroom? Also, is it above a staircase? I cant see how you’d fit a separate bath and shower in there, unless you put the toilet inside the shower!!

lovelygreeneyes · 09/02/2021 15:02

Hi it is rectangular only by 1 ft.... No its not above a stair case. Dc like showers and I love baths but they do not want to stand in bath to shower...

Where exactly is the door? Can you post a very rough sketch with the measurements/window and door placement?

lovelygreeneyes · 09/02/2021 15:09

I do not know how to upload a drawing sorry...I will try

So to the left is the sink which sticks out 60 cm. The window is above the loo and is about the same size.

I think you'd need to change where the door is, then you could fit in a small (140cmx70cm) bath and a small (70/maybe 75cm square) shower down one side with a combined toilet/vanity unit in front of the door. Would be a tight fit though!

Doublechins · 09/02/2021 15:22

Shower to the right of the door, toilet opposite. Bath down the left hand wall and basin between toilet and bath?

Soontobe60 · 09/02/2021 15:30

I cant see how you’d fit a separate shower in there. Even moving to door. Is there a possibility of putting a shower in a bedroom?

custardbear · 09/02/2021 15:32

I had this prior to renovation - we had bath and toilet along the external wall, to the wider side of the door we had the shower and the smaller side we had the sink. The door opened inwards and blocked the view of the shower but that was fine

lovelygreeneyes · 09/02/2021 15:37

Was your bathroom a similar size custardbear?

Lots of the bathroom companies have online design tools - google "bathroom design tool". You'll need to take detailed measurements and include the position of the door and window. I don't think it can be done though, if 7ft is the length of the room i.e. from door to window, then that's barely longer than a standard bath. If you have a shorter length bath then it kind of defeats the purpose of having a bath as you won't be able to relax in it - they're ok for bathing kids but not for "lounging" as an adult!

redcandlelight · 09/02/2021 16:25

can you re-hang the doir so it opens outwards?
will be very tight with full size bath & shower. but squeezing in a half bath might be possible.

rbe78 · 09/02/2021 16:29

How about a compromise with an L-shaped bath? My sister has one of these, and it's much nicer to shower in than a regular bath.

ShellieEllie · 09/02/2021 18:57

Could you make the door a pocket door? I'd second the L shaped bath idea.

custardbear · 10/02/2021 13:01

Hi
I don't have the exact dimensions but here's a pic with what dimensions I recall

Everything was ok size wise - there wasn't loads of space to move but it served a purpose

Hard to say without exact measurements, but this shaped bath might fit on the LHS wall where the sink is currently , leave the W.c. Where it is and then a sink and shower cubicle on the right hand wall.

It's not really big enough for a bath and a shower cubicle. If you managed to squeeze them in, then it works really compromise the size and comfort of both.

I get that your children have a preference for not standing in a bath to shower. But the impact on them is likely be some way short of catastrophic. Showering in a bath is someway more comfortable than showering in a 700mm cubicle.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 10/02/2021 19:36

what about one of those toilet/handbasin combis?

if the drawing is of your existing bathroom then I'd duplicate that tbh, maybe with the toilet on the same wall as the sink, and a nice big vanity cupboard under for all the bathroom accoutrements

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 10/02/2021 19:38

posted too soon...

toilet on sink wall with a tall towel rail rad at the end of the bath where the toilet was.

custardbear · 11/02/2021 01:57

I'm sure you can fit it in, may need to adjust the door placement but that's a small price to pay to fit it all in

Ruddyfedup · 11/02/2021 02:03

Ive got an L shape bath with a shower screen and have a tap and separate shower on the wall, no mixer tap. I prefer showers and the kids are still young enough they like a bath.
