Replacing flooring in a 1930s house with suspended timber floors

Potentially looking to replace a worn laminate floor (downstairs open plan living room and dinning room) in a 1930s house with suspended timber floors. Would like to level it out too, as the surface is currently a little lumpy. Any recommendations on what to buy / where to buy / who to install would be great. What's possible on a modest budget? The space is approximately 24m². Also not sure what condition the suspended floor will be in once the current flooring is removed and if some timbers may need replacing how to go about that? Thanks in advance!

Depends what is underneath the existing laminate when you lift it. It may be a very poor 'underlay/insulation' beneath the laminate. Depending how long it's been down it may even just be paper.

The floorboards may be fine but as I said as they are hidden, you won't know until unveiled.

I lifted the poor condition floor boards (replaced two joists that were rotten) and put down new oak floor boards, came unfinished and i oiled them.
