Electric Fires

We've had an offer accepted on a house which appears to have had the chimney breast and stack removed at some point (survey happening next week) I've never lived in a house without a chimney before so this seems a strange thing to do but hey ho.
What are my options here? Are there any decent electric fires about?
It's a 1930's detached so I don't want anything too modern. I really wanted a multi stove (our current house has an open fire)
I've seen you can get electric stoves but I can't envisage how they might look irl. Are they naff?
I'm also struggling with the idea of a fire without a chimney breast, the living room isn't huge but is putting one in or just one for aesthetic purposes to house an electric fire an option?

Last experience of an electric fire was in about 1976 when my DB told me to touch the bloody heating element and it gave me an electric shock! Hopefully things have moved on! Grin

Yes they are better than the 1970’s now! Here’s a link for you and if you watch Emmerdale they are used in the pub and the cottages. Of course nothing beats the real thing, but they really are far superior than the old days. , You could also go down the bioethanol route but I have heard they can cause condensation and are expensive to run, though they look very good as they are a real flame.

Wow that looks good, thank you 🙏
I had to laugh at the point in the video where he said 'it's perfectly safe, in fact you can actually touch the flames" Oh yeah, that's what I fell for when I was 6 matey Grin
