A secondary glazing in a small bedroom? - Noise Reduction & Ventilation

We are investigating sound proofing solutions for DS2's bedroom.

It's a very small bedroom about 2.4m x 3m. The main issue is the bird chirping in early mornings. So we are considering to install secondary glazing.

Does anyone know if secondary glazing of 8.8mm is sufficient to block out the bird chirping sounds? The glass company suggests 50% noise reduction.

I'm also not sure about the ventilation of the room once the secondary glazing is installed. For such a small room, wouldn't it be saturated with CO2 over night?

Could he sleep with his door open? Not sure about secondary gazing but would wood shutters be an option? they make a big difference.

Also, as this is a seasonal issue, have you tried running a fan or white noise app to provide background noise?

JoannaDory. Thanks for the reply. No, we have to keep the door shut. Sounds transfer in the house very easily. We don't have a door separating the living area and upstairs. We do have white noise on. But I don't want to keep it on all night though.
