Failure to fit diswasher due to electro valve connector needed

So, ordered a new dishwasher from AO to be installed. They arrived at 7.30 last night and lo and behold they said they could not fit it due to the 'electrovalve' needing a different type of connector. I cannot find it for love nor money. Can anyone shed any light. @pigletjohn?

post a photo please

I would guess that it might be a Siemens, Bosch or similar where the fill hose in encased in a sort of translucent flexible convoluted sleeve, which has a leak detector and shuts off the supply if found. It is bigger and so maybe there is not room to fit.

On mine I have enough room, and it fitted onto the old appliance tap. So if you show us your appliance tap, and where it is fitted; and the connector on your fill pipe, I might see what the trouble is.

like this

they call it "Aquastop" and there is a sort of plastic box round the end.

www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/dishwashers/siemens/aquastop-water-inlet-fill-hose-for-flood-prevention/55706.htm

I see now that "Aquastop" is fitted on quite a number of brands now, at various prices, so not very unusual.

So the hose does have a plastic box on the end. Can you show me the water supply appliance tap? I am expecting to see it is too cramped to get the connector and the box in.

Belleende · 06/02/2021 09:03

Hello, thanks for answering the batcall. Yes it is too cramped, so they said we need a connector, but we can't find one. Can't get a picture as kitchen is in use right now.

Or does the hose need go pass through a hole, perhaps in the side of the sink unit, that is big enough for a hose, but not the box?

I think this is it

I can't think of a readymade connector. It would be possible to bodge something up with plumbing parts, but that would increase the risk of a leak, which us the opposite of what the modern hose design does.

A better solution would be to alter the copper pipework so that the appliance tap is more accessible. This is a small plumbing job.

If you can photograph the tap and its surroundings later I will see if I can think of anything else.

Belleende · 06/02/2021 09:14

I will give it a go. Why can't things just be simple.

Can't make it out from that pic I'm afraid. An appliance tap looks something like

this

It may be that your kitchen unit was added after the plumbing, and is in the way. This might be addressed by cutting a hole in it, but I can't make it out.

Well, we thought we had it sorted. Removed the back of the cupboard and got everything to connect. Run the first cycle and it is showing the same fault as the previous machine. It is not emptying properly. I suspect the outlet pipe is blocked in some way. The last machine would drain fine, all except the final drainage cycle. Had the pump replaced, everything resealed, but the fault kept recurring. Grrrrr

you are talking now about the waste hose.

You can temporarily hook the waste hose into the sink. They often come with an end that can be formed into a sort of shepherd's crook using a supplied plastic former. As this is not a permanent fitting, don't run it unattended.

Can you photograph there the waste hose attaches please, showing the sink waste, and the waste pipe?

ta.

It's all sorted! Him indoors had hooked the outlet up wrong, so we now have a functional dishwasher. Yeahhhh! Thanks for your assistance.
