Perspex bath screen?

I need to replace a shower curtain rail and want to put a bath screen in instead. As the wall is an ancient stud wall I don’t want to use a glass one as I’m not convinced it will take 12kg attached to it.

I wondered if anyone has come across a bath screen that uses Perspex/acrylic/plastic instead of glass? I’m not finding anything on google which isn’t a good sign!

Any recommendations?

Apologies for going back to one but ... have you tried a rail that curves away from the bath?

I fear Perspex will scratch and dull sooner rather than later.

The problem with a rail is the square/rectangular ones droop and slowly pull the screws out the wall. Straight ones need to be nearly 2.5m to stretch between the end walls. I’m using a tension extendable but it has a nasty habit of slipping and landing on my head!

The screen doesn’t need to be clear and I’m not that worried about scratches.

How about an L-shaped shower curtain rail that has an extra arm fixing it to the ceiling at the L-point - For example? That would support the weight of the rail and stop it from drooping.

@NoIdeasForWittyNickname thanks for that, I’ve been looking for one with a ceiling mount. I’ll have to do some measuring as it’s quite a high ceiling just to add to the fun.

I agree a Perspex one would scratch and dull.

The bath screen’s weight rests on the bath though doesn’t it? Except when you swing it away for cleaning underneath but that’s fairly rare and quick. We have a bath screen attached to a victorian lath & plaster wall and it’s been fine for about 6 years so far...

@PatricianOfAnkhMorpork ah, tall ceilings - a blessing and and a curse Smile At the end of the day, that arm is just a piece of a chrome tube, so surely various length options should exist somewhere?

minipie what I’d give for a lath and plaster wall! This is a Victorian house, on the original walls you can’t drill into them as it’s so hard it burns out the motor. Which led to me fitting a new toilet roll holder with command strips.

NoIdeasForWittyNickname hopefully yes.

Thanks for the responses
