How much did your small kitchen cost?

And where did you get it from?
I’ve been quoted 15k by Wren for the units and cooker, hob, sink and dishwasher.
This doesn’t include electrics, plumbing, lighting, tiling, or floor.
I’ve never done a kitchen refit before, but
15k seems a lot to me!!
I was expecting more like 6k!

I’ve requested appointments with Howdens and Wickes. DP and his friend could do the actual fit, so can save money on that.
Where did you all get your units and tiling, etc?

Another vote for DIY! Approx 6k (can't remember) for units, worktops and appliances. Fitted by a friend for a few hundred. About another 2k for flooring, tiles and blinds, including fitting. We looked at other companies but loved the quality of DIY. Loved the price even more!

I'm doing a huge kitchen for clients and we've had prices of less than that for their huge kitchen from IKEA and DIY kitchens so your should be less and the quality of both is far superior to magnet/ wickes
I wouldn't touch wren with a barge pole

@GreySkyClouds Agree about there being far too much choice. Getting lots of samples may help, but I personally found them so small that it was difficult to visualise the overall look. Google images was my friend, but overall, my final decision came when I visited the actual worktop shop. By that point, I'd already narrowed my choice down to 3.

We had a quote for 7k from Wickes for a bottom-of-the-range set of 8 cabinets, laminate worktop, a stainless steel sink, hob, and dishwasher.

That only included the dry fit of the cupboards, no plumbing, no
decorating, tiling or floors. The labour alone from Wickes was £3k.

Just too much for our tiny galley kitchen.

Kitchen 3metres x 3 metres

Wren - £6,500 excluding fitting, including fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven, plus a quartz worktop which is about £2,000 of the total.

It was about twice that if we had used their fitters...

£22 k

We literally went back to the floorboards, the piping was redone behind the sink and is a thing of beauty, the price included new oven, new hob, new dishwasher, water softener, flooring, lighting, wallpapering, new ceiling, redecorating and electrics in fact the only original thing in the kitchen are the doors and the window we went for the works.

FinallyFluid · 04/02/2021 17:14

Oh yes forgot to say, our kitchen fitter said if we used Wren he was out.

tigerbear · 04/02/2021 18:14

Wow @FinallyFluid why was that re Wren?
And £22k 😳😳

Our fitter doesn't rate Wren, they send out the wrong stuff sometimes, and then spend ages sending you the correct part.

tabulahrasa · 04/02/2021 21:40

We had no issues with wren ... and went with them because by then we knew we were really struggling to find a kitchen fitter and might end up doing it ourselves... and their prebuilt units were the same price as similar flat pack ones every else we tried

I paid £9k for 9 cupboards, sink, lighting and tiles. However, I had a big discount on that. I would find one you liked and negotiate hard. Times are very hard at the moment and you might get a good deal.

Or depending on how long you will leave there and how robust you need it to be I would try IKEA as it may be cheaper?
