Planning new kitchen - sink in the island??

Boring I know to anyone without a kitchen obsession, please bear with me.
Trying to design a new kitchen in a large but awkwardky shaped space. Best option would put the sink in the island, I`m reluctant as we are not tidy (pans stuffed in sink overnight, anything not dishwasherable until dealt with). Eyesore comes to mind. I suppose we could change!
Anyone done this and been happy/regretted it?

we have it and not regretted it - we have an open plan kitchen/dinning room and lounge too so thought it would be a problem but not

We did actually have a lid thing for the sink (as the worktop is made from corian) but I dropped it and it broke, but did used to hide stuff in the sink

Now find that I just put in dishwasher or oven and wait until I am ready to sort out

picture of my kitchen on my profile if you want to see what sinks in island look like

we were going to put the cooker with cookerhoood in lisland but decided against it as you would see the hood from the lounge!

I have a sink in a peninsula unit, so similar. I put as much as possible in the dishwasher (including saucepans) and anything else in the sink. Yes, sometimes it looks messy, but no more so than if the sink was anywhere else. Only drawback is that you get water splashing around a lot and onto the other side of the unit if you are washing big things in the sink...

Heifer's kitchen is much tidier than mine

not at the moment its not!

I have flour all over the floor and worktops and papers all over the other side of the worktop.

Ah yes my biggest tip...

If you are thinking about having a bar thing on the side of the worktop - go for a lower one which is at normal table height..

Tis fab (and make sure it is wide enough for a large dinner plate, my friend got one done and can't actually eat at it)..

Might be a good incentive to clear up right after dinner
