Neighbour wants to install cables under our drive

Our NDN wants to have power and heating for his garage. Between his front garden and his garage is our driveway, so in order to do this, he needs to install cables that run underneath our drive - there is no other way of doing this. I have no reason to think he won't do a decent job as he's an engineer, but could anyone give some advice on this please before we give permission? Eg anything we need to consider?

I haven't re read since I first posted so it may have been mentioned- if so sorry.
Your neighbour may be awesome but what happens if he moves out for what ever reason and the new neighbours are dicks. Anything could go wrong with the cable. Too me its a headache that can be avoided.

@notacooldad of course. If any of us moves there will be issues. It sounds like it will be a massive PITA longer term for all kinds of reasons.

@seeline it's a weird layout! I've created a (shite) diagram to try and show what it's like but I'm struggling to attach. Basically, NDN's garage and driveway are bordered by: Our drive and garage on one side, a fence at the back (over which are more gardens and houses); another neighbour's property on the other side and a public right of way in front. Our drives and garages are at a right angle to our houses and he goes down his footpath and over the road to get to his garage.

Everyone has been v helpful, thank you Smile

If his garage front's the road, his best bet would be to contact the utility provider and have a separate mains supply connected to his garage. Won't impinge on your land, no need for legal involvement.
Won't be cheap, but them doing the job legally and properly under your drive won't be cheap either!

So was my Dad, but he wouldn't have a clue how to do this.
It's like saying he's a heart surgeon, he'll be ok with my hysterectomy.
