Dh and I are completing on our house move at the end of next week and have hit a disagreement about something. Can anyone help?

Our black general waste bin is collected/emptied once every two weeks on a Tuesday. The last time it was emptied was yesterday, so the next time it's collected we will not be here, new owner will be in. Dh claims there is some stipulation that you are not allowed to leave any waste anywhere when selling the house so we are no longer able to put anything in our outside black general waste bin at all. Not even a small bag of general waste from our final week in the property which will only contain regular waste stuff.

I was under the impression you just weren't supposed to leave random bags of rubbish all over the place (which we would never do, obviously and have just skipped anything which is not general waste) but he says even a small bag of regular waste inside the main outside bin is not allowed and buyer will 'get us in trouble with solicitors' if we do.

Who is right?

no idea - but I would just leave one bag of rubbish in the bin.

Filling the bin would be unreasonable.

Nah your husband is wrong leave what you want in it , if the buyers have been awkward in anyway leave it full to the brim, if they are nice leave it empty😀👍. My last buyers when really nice people so I even washed it out before we left, and left them a log store full of wood( a lot ) as they didn’t look like the wood scavenging/ chopping type people.

We did have that in our contract, though one bin bag will probably be fine. We moved on bin day (by chance) so that made things easier!

Both of our bins were rammed when we moved in to our current house

It’s polite not to fill it to the brim, but if it’s your only way of disposing of household rubbish then it isn’t going to get you into trouble, there’s no stipulation unless it’s specifically in your contract. I’m in London where a lot of people don’t have cars and tip access is by appointment - it would be frankly incredibly unreasonable of me to expect my sellers to bag up their rubbish on moving day and get a taxi halfway across the borough and back.
