U shape kitchen, would you make it into an L shape?.

Our kitchen diner is in a u shape. Some how it’s not very user friendly though because your always in each other’s way.

We could re-do it so the units continue down the wall and the kitchen table then could go in the middle of the room. I’ve only got 4 narrow wall units in pairs either side of the cooker hood and this way I’d be able to fit more storage in. It would mean we’d only need two straight runs of work top and I’d be able to stretch to solid work tops not laminate.

I’ve still got the surplus tiles so floorings not a problem.

I prefer L shaped kitchens as they’re more user friendly. Another option is just have all your units along one wall & u could put the hob on a small island in the centre.

our kitchen isnt huge and when we looked at doing it as a new one we could have gone U shape as there was enough space on the back wall for an extra unit but we went with L shpe along back and side wall as that has given us space to put a small table and chairs in it looks bigger now as it had two huge larder sized units either end and we got rid of those and went just wall and base units with a free standing cooker

I took this photo before we moved in. I hate the colours they chose too, I have a rightmove alert and every other house in the road has cream/wood or all wood and we got black with brown 🤮

I’ve considered an island but it’s too much hassle with the size of our table it’s not doable, our tables 7’ x 3’.

i would definitely go L shaped with that kitchen it will oen up the space and your kitchen will work a lot better get the radiator moved over and you will be able to go right into the corner for base units

L shaped and I’d go with an island and a smaller table Grin

I thought you meant long & thin with kitchen at one end and table at the other.
Actual picture isn't what I was imagine and I'd think your L shape would work better. Whether it's worth the cost and disruption though?

Kitchens pretty old now, work tops are ruined by dh doing diy on them 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Oh, my MIL's kitchen is similar in layout, and it is such a pain! I would definitely go for L shaped, it will feel huge!

I have a "G" shaped kitchen which I love but it's right for the space in my kitchen diner so I was prepared to say stick with the U shape till I saw the room! An L shape would fit much better in that space, I'd go for it!
