If the mood the owners are going for is "Dracula's summer cottage" they've certainly been successful in their efforts. Shock

It's a lovely and interesting house, that's been decorated to a particular taste.

inappropriateraspberry · 27/01/2021 09:17

I don't think it's creepy at all! Cottage style with a touch of gothic in the decor, but not at all creepy. It's only some big chairs and red walls.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 27/01/2021 09:22

Love it, for the history, the decor, the location, the bikes (all those bikes!) and the fact that Dracula summers in West Yorkshire (Whitby is soooo 1890) Grin

BettyCarver · 27/01/2021 09:31

Hell’s bells I thought those were spiders in the bath but I think they’re water jets.
Love the house though; great potential

Bluntness100 · 27/01/2021 09:38

I’m not seeing creepy, it’s a lovely house in need of cosmetic improvement, the decor isn’t to my taste, suspect it’s not been done for a couple of decades.

But the house itself is lovely.

borntohula · 27/01/2021 09:42

Would live there in a heartbeat!

Mochudubh · 27/01/2021 09:50

I love the house, the upstairs decor not so much. Must be a real pain lugging the bikes up and down from the loft though.

I'd prefer a proper garden rather than the courtyard but the graveyard doesn't worry me. The dead can't hurt you, it's the living you need to watch out for.

ShowOfHands · 27/01/2021 09:57

It's not creepy at all. It's playful and fun. I love a bit of originality and personality in people's homes and once they've removed all of their curiosities, it's a simple redecoration job if you don't like it.

riotlady · 27/01/2021 10:16

I love it!! Is that in Yorkshire?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/01/2021 10:35

Presumably a converted church/chapel? I’m not sure Dracula would be too keen - at the very least he’d probably chuck the church-window shaped furniture, wardrobe doors, etc. And get an exorcist in to blast away any atmosphere of sanctity/prayer/mouldy old hymn books, etc.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 27/01/2021 11:17

remembering that the clutter which belongs to the sellers wouldnt be there and with the over gothic wallpapers replaced that could be a lovely house i would love to live there its not coming across as creepy to me its actually got cosy vibes coming across

Schmooopy · 27/01/2021 11:24

I reckon the person that lives here is a writer of horror books!

Ormally · 27/01/2021 11:33

I don't think it is a converted church - the 1944 'Darrington Church House' wooden sign and Darrington Jubilee House plaque from the 19C on the outside just suggests it is a house built next to the church, maybe to be occupied by a caretaker, or as an alms house or something.

Not a bathroom to be gentle on you if you have a hangover, is it?!

ShutUpAlex · 27/01/2021 11:36

As a closet goth I absolutely adore it!

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2021 11:38

I love it but would have to redecorate and wouldn't choose most of the furniture!

As a base to build from I adore the kitchen and the fire in the lounge.

Layout looks lovely and outdoor space has potential.

I'm not a fan of the gothic decor but I still found it interesting!

LindaEllen · 27/01/2021 11:41

It's certainly interesting. But the photographers have taken 'flattering angles' to extreme. I imagine it's quite small inside as you can tell the way the photos have been taken.

Mintine · 29/01/2021 11:41

It is absolutely beautiful. I don’t find it in any way creepy and would definitely love there. I love it.

Mintine · 29/01/2021 11:43

Haha live there, not love there, but I suppose I would love it there. But we are buying a chapel in a graveyard, so I suppose it’s my cup of tea

EternalOptimist7 · 29/01/2021 11:46

Not creepy but I couldn’t live in it!

OppsUpsSide · 29/01/2021 11:47

Would have to do something about the bathroom and fake grass pretty quick, but otherwise I love it.

Smallgoon · 29/01/2021 12:56

I actually really like it!

samanthawashington · 29/01/2021 20:07

Is it a converted chapel or church? Looks like they have a cemetery for a garden!

Mombie · 29/01/2021 23:15

Does anybody else see a spooky face in the top corner of the bathroom mirror Shock

BeautifulStar · 29/01/2021 23:17

I like it.

waggymaggie · 29/01/2021 23:28

I like it apart from the ostrich/emu head next to the fire place. That's just weird
