Hello
Can you please advise on what would be rough cost for installing new sliding patio doors to garden (at the moment there is one door with small window next to it) and would also like to change a bedroom window to a bigger and lower deeper window. Pvc please.

Thank you

Not a lot of info here, regarding the size of the upstairs window. There are building regulations regarding the size of windows and their openings. We altered two first floor long windows that had high sills into very large ‘picture’ windows. There were safety rules about the type of glass that they had to have and any openings. Fortunately the room had a third window that complied with the ventilation rules.
This all added to the cost which was more than a couple of thousand. I’d get a window installer to give you an accurate quote.

Total lack of info. How wide is the sliders etc? Are they wider than the existing opening? If so you will need RSJs inserting which required building regs approval and a lot of expense

Same with the bedroom doors etc

We are having sliding doors put in soon and have been quoted £1600 for fitting and the removal of the old ones.

Blimey...£1600. Must be small doors. Ours are 4.5m and were £3500 just for the doors and that was a decent price. Fitting was extra

Hello

We are not going to make the window wider just bigger downwards approx 4 foot down. The window is approx 1 meter wide.

Thanks

The building regs. will still apply. In general the rules are that you must have an opening window giving ventilation, it’s worked out according to the volume of the room.
Having said that, if you enlarge a window there are safety rules where the openings have to be. Usually at the top. If the sill of the window is low then the glass has to a particularly safe type.
This all comes at an additional cost above that of just replacing a window.

I meant to add this is for a window at first floor or above.
