HELP don’t like new carpet

We’ve had a new grey carpet put down and it feels too blue and really don’t like it. I feel it doesn’t match sofa which is fairly new and don’t want to replace. Any ideas what colours can add through accessories and curtains to maybe tone down the blue in thw carpet.

Beige might fade the blue ness? It does for brighter colours. Or maybe embrace it with cream so you've got a three colour eclectic thing going on?

I always hate carpets when they have just been laid as it is such a big change to a room. Leave it a week or two and see if you get used to it. If not an alternative is to put a rug on top in a colour you actually like. This works well to 'zone' a room too and anchor a seating area etc.

Was thinking cream beige may help! Or maybe going dark charcoal?? So hard to know as all I see is blue!!

It looks grey to me but grey and beige (the sofa) clash - you need a new sofa

Look up some colour palettes that include grey and beige. This article has some tips too www.fletcherdesignconsultants.com/index.php/blog/136-how-to-decorate-with-gray-and-beige-in-the-same-room

It looks nice.

Look at it in different lights too, it will change.

The crazy thing is the sofa is grey or was until carpet went in!! It’s grey but has a cream thread through it so new carpet makes it look beige when it’s not!! Can’t justify new sofa as only 2 yrs old!

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Will check it out!

if you really can't live with it, take it up and sell it while it's still nice and clean and new with no furniture indentations. Cut your losses.

I'd say a colourful large rug to detract from the mismatch. Personally wouldn't bother me but have had many similar incidents

I agree

Try getting warm white bulbs in your lights? Might take the cold blue tinge off

I actually think the sofa and carpet look fine together. Can you give it a week or two and see how you feel then?
