Hi everyone
I paid for a new garage and used my credit card thinking it would offer some protection. After leaving me with a flooded garage that has screws missing and is just a mess the bank have refused to pay out because the garage installer said the flooding isn't their fault! Even with lots of photographic evidence and a company that claims it provides westjet right garages they said that becuase the installer said it's not their fault O have to prove it was!

I'm so mad. It feels so sexist. I mean it's obvious with missing screws and puddles that they didn't provide a level of quality.

So...I'm really struggling because they've told me I need to get a report to show it was their fault. But of course it's lockdown and no-one seems to actually do reports on garage builds.

Can anyone help? I spent thousands of pounds and this garage is in much worse shape than the old wooden one they took down. My things are covered in mold and I'm just stunned that all it took was a mans word to dispute all my emails and photographs (they even promised to fix it at first the. sent a series of scary men to my house to shout at me).

I have tons of photos if anyone can recommended someone who can write a report on their professional opinion on wether the garage was built properly or not - of course happy to pay.

Apparently just needs to be a builder or tradesman.

I’d recommend speaking to a lawyer, even if you didn’t have a contract about this case law is such that construction work comes under the sale of goods act and as such a standard of workmanship and due care is expected.

Legal cover is probably included in your house insurance. Check and use it to speak a lawyer for advice.
