30 minute commute to London

Hi all, we currently live in south London on the Northern line and are looking to move out of London to get more space and a garden.

Is anyone able to recommend places that are within a 30-35 minute commute to London Bridge, but equally not crazy expensive.

Our budget is £425k and we would ideally like a 3 bed.

TIA! Smile

Milton keynes is approx 45mins to London Bridge. I did the commute regularly and had it timed lol. Areas like Loughton and Shenley Church End are nicer and also walking distance to the train station (Loughton more so than Shenley).

Sutton?

Thanks so much! There are areas I hadn't even considered! Thanks for the links too. I really like the houses in both links and are spacious.

We are finding there doesn't seem to be much on the market for 3 beds that are commutable to London Bridge.

I'm surprised Milton Keynes is that quick as I thought it would be longer!

You might just in Redhill, Horley or Epsom Downs but bear in mind once outside zone 6, the greater the commute cost

Definitely look further out at the rail lines going into London Bridge or lines that can be linked to London Bridge via a short tube journey you will be surprised how quick some lines are

Look along the Thameslink elstree and Borehamwood is 37 minutes I think. The fast train from St Albans is the same

Coulsdon, Surrey. Train from Coulsdon South to London Bridge is a bit over 20 mins. Lots of green space and easy access to M23/25.

Thank you so much for these suggestions! I will get looking! Grin

MK is just one example. Even parts of Bedfordshire are within 45 mins of London Bridge. You need to find fast trains into London.

Coulsdon, Merstham, Redhill etc. All fast trains to London Bridge. Worth looking at all the areas south of London with trains that run fast from East Croydon etc.

eurochick · 19/01/2021 20:10

Kenley?

It's one of the places we looked at when we moved out from SE London a few years ago.

Eg Garston Lane, Kenley, CR8

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the suggestions!
We really like the property in Kenley @eurochick (sorry not sure how to tag people)

We have also found a couple of places we like the look of in Redhill, our concern is would this be in a flight path for Gatwick?

Thanks all!

LIZS · 21/01/2021 10:32

Redhill is not on flight path , it runs east/west.

justtryingtogeton · 21/01/2021 10:57

Most of the south of England is under a flight path.
