Hi......can anyone recommend a company to use? I can see there's an old post recommending Lifestyle Shutters and Shutterley Fabulous . Not sure if these recs still stand. I'm based in East London. Thanks ever so x

I understand that shutters are expensive but I do really want to have complete black out for my bedroom. In my current home I have dark blue velvet curtains with blackout lining and I've never slept so well in my life. If I have curtains I will also still need to have something additional to provide privacy as well. At the moment in my bedroom I have voile panels - but they do cover the whole window and can't be opened to allow more light in - they are velcroed onto flat dowels at the top of the window.

My living room will also need a treatment for privacy and I wouldn't want to have full length voiles as I'd also like to open them up during the day to let the light in. I'm not a fan of the look of Venetian blinds. Or having those cellophane stickers on the lower windows.

Shutters seem like a very good option for both privacy and having the flexibility to let light in - and I'd like both rooms to match as they are both on the front ground floor of a double fronted Edwardian flat.

@Isolatedizzy how much of a faff were they to fit?

Isolatedizzy · 19/01/2021 12:37

Not bad at all - but I didn't fit them! Grin

Not too bad, detailed instructions, less than half an hour!

Fab thanks. Sounds like I could reassure DH that if he doesn't want to spend so much on blinds, he has the option of fitting them himself Grin

I've got white wooden Venetian blinds from blinds to go for my study. Made to measure and fitted ourselves. Look lovely and almost like shutters but can be fully lifted as they are Venetian.
