We are currently in rented and looking to buy in the next months or year
We lived abroad for many years so we have little credit history here which adds to every issue
We have a large cash deposit and my husband now has a well paid permanent job which should help us to get a small mortgage, I'm working part time for our own company so I have a small salary too ( there is only the 2 of us)

We have seen the scramble for property where we live and didn't want to rush to pick somewhere and ending up paying over the odds for a house .

Should we start looking or wait a while and see what happens to prices ?

WWYD?

You're asking us to look into a crystal ball.

Could house prices fall in the next year? Yes absolutely. Are they predicted to? Some say yes, but it's completely uncertain. Could they continue to rise or stagnate? Yes its a possibility. Ultimately nobody really knows.

The thing that is important is that in the long term house prices always increase, so small fluctuations in price won't matter if your going to stay put for 5+ years.

There's a lot of speculation about house prices but nobody really knows what will happen.

@optimisticpessimist01
Thanks for the reply - it's basically what I was thinking - kinda who knows so let's just go with the flow.
I am glad we didn't buy into the stamp duty rush .
There seem to be many houses still left on the market since late last year - what will happen come April - lower prices or withdraw from the market - I'm interested.
I guess those who have to move will still do so and those who are just testing the waters will stay put .
