Bathroom help - please!

So we were going to have tongue and groove and freestanding bath with shower over and have realised this is totally impractical though would have looked lovely. So, we are getting a free standing bath but with a shower screen and, instead of tongue and groove, will get the shower tiled and the rest of bathroom half tiled. Thing is I have not a bloody clue about which tiles to choose. The bathroom is small, it is in a small victorian cottage and the toilet I have chosen is a 'high' traditional one. Can someone please suggest tiles for floor and wall which are not too clinical, not modern and not too bright - I am thinking of neutrals and maybe a blue-gray as well. Help!

How does a freestanding bath work with a shower screen? Is it one of those ones with one flat end against the wall?

I think penny mosaic tiles can look great on the floor in traditional bathrooms, although there is a lot of grout so you would want to choose a mid to dark colour grout. Another traditional option is reproduction Victorian tiles in a diamond pattern - Topps have a new range which looks decent. Or you could go for tiles that look like wood planks, these are very realistic now. Or there are lots with a simple geometric pattern which could look fab for example these if you google geometric tiles you will find lots of examples.

For the walls you could use metro tiles, or long brick tiles, or square tiles... I’d probably stick with plain white, and then the wall above can be painted in your choice of colour.

Pinterest is great, if you look up traditional bathroom or Victorian bathroom on there you’ll get lots of ideas.

Are you tiling the bathroom or getting a pro in?

@BloodyCreateUsername we are getting a professional - I would rather work the hours and pay someone than bodge it myself! @minipie yeh it is against one wall at the end and has a screen - not as beautiful as a proper free standing but far more practical.

Thanks for great ideas everyone
