I’m a social housing tenant but where I am just now is no longer suited to me and my needs.
So I am planning to organise a move to somewhere that works better for me.
Lots to work out and consider I’m finding the planning quite overwhelming.
One of the things I’m worried about is there are a few minor things in place I'm in now will need repaired.
Accidental stuff this is the main reason this place doesn’t work for me now keep having accidents cos of the layout etc
I know it’s my responsibility but I don’t know the best way to sort it to suit everyone.
Can’t have people in at the moment as shielding, so timing wise it needs to happen after I move out but I’m fine with paying for an extra bit of time rent wise if needed as I know it’ll need to be sorted before a new tenant can come in.
I just don’t know whether to get privately paid people in or whether to do it that the social landlord sorts it and charges me.
I can take video and photos of the place when I’m last here so nobody tries to blame me for any damage I’m not responsible for.
The next thing is the work actually being done. I can’t be here when they do the work and it’ll be very difficult to inspect it afterward which I think makes things tricky with private people if they do a bad job or worse cause more damage.
But I don’t know what usually happens if the social landlord sorts it out and bills me are they likely to “overcharge” me? How can I check on an acceptable cost for the work in my region?
Feels very difficult to figure out to me
I’m pretty inexperienced with this stuff and defo don’t know what an ok bill would be.
Can any practical or social landlord people help please?
