Hi all. We have had the rising damp fixed in our dining room which means half the wall (from the ground up) has been neatly replastered. The top/original half has very nicely applied lining paper - with paint over the top.
Do we have to strip the lining paper off the top half, and if so assuming the whole wall will need to then be lined with paper? As there must be a reason it was applied in the first place, and I’m assuming the original wall was not in a state to be directly painted on.
Assuming if we just leave the paper in situ on the top half, and then paint directly on to the plaster below, the difference will be obvious?
This is working out to be so much more work than we thought!
