Water softeners and boiling water taps

We're redoing the kitchen and I would really love to incorporate a boiling water tap and a water softener. We live in a really hard water area.
Guy from Harvey's today pointed out that it would not be worth having the boiling water tap unless fed from the softener to prevent limescale buildup in the tap tank, but also that you can't drink the softened water. So what's the point of having the tap? I'd really love to get rid of my kettle which gets so scaled up.
Has anyone come up with any solution for a similar set up?

Following with interest. I didn’t realise that you couldn’t drink softened water though?

We’ve had a boiling tap in a really hard water area (London) and no water softener and no issues 3+ years in. You can get the tank serviced/descaled, not that we have yet.

Oh that's great thanks, now to decide which tap! Been looking at quooker and qettle...
