Quick question re DIY kitchens doors

Hello, we are on the verge of ordering from DIY kitchens and wondering if anyone could advise whether to get the doors factory fitted onto the kitchen units and if so how it looks having to have plastic caps over the unused holes ? Would it better to fit them on site? Does it look better or not noticeable.

We are having an extension and our builder is happy to fit the kitchen. DH thinks it would save time to get the doors fitted but I think it would look better not to have unnecessary holes.

Any thoughts and thank you in advance

The video of how they fit the doors pre delivery is at the bottom of this page which explains the choice better than my opening post!

Why would you end up with unnecessary holes? They only do the ones you need to fit the doors, they don't drill out all possible fittings and leave unused holes on the other side.

We did ours five years ago, and we had to specify where the hinges would be for each door (or none, for a couple of special-fit ones).

The plastic covers date from the time of arched doors that had to go a certain way up and therefore mass produced doors used to have hinge holes both sides. DIY kitchens are set up to drill them to order so they will only drill for the hinges on one side.

Thank you very much for replying but I got the impression from their information film linked above that plastic caps were used to cover the unused holes. Perhaps I am being very dim and will rewatch.

Just drop them an email. The video doesn't help in that respect.

I watched the video and it clearly states that if you choose to fit doors yourself, they come without predrilled holes "to avoid unsightly" plastic caps.

The paragraph above the video also states that all their kitchens now come with factory fitted doors and drawer fronts as standard.

Yes you are all right! We rewatched it and feel v relieved.
Many thanks

Agree with other posters on this one - we bought ours in July and there are no unused holes. Also, DIY Kitchens use Blum hinges which make removal and refitting of doors a doddle - just clip off / clip on, no messing around with fixing screws, which may be very convenient during installation e.g. wall cabinets may be easier to handle without doors flapping around.

Excellent. Thank you for the reassurance

I actually just went and checked my doors - no plastic caps or the need for them :)

They're a quality product, al pre-built so dead simple to install.

the inside of mine the pre drilled holes are for the shelf placement my fitter drilled the holes for the catches himself
