Brushed brass bathroom fittings

Hi all, were finally having our bathroom ripped out (seventies suite, floral tiles), and I have my heart set on patterned floor tiles, white metro half height, stiffkey or Hague blue too half, roll top bath (flat to wall type to include shower), traditional look toilet and basin, the house is Edwardian and I want a nod to its age rather than really modern, we've spent a lot of time restoring original features from artex and faux wood panelling.
I'm really struggling to find nice high quality brushed/antique look brass, taps and shower. The door handles throughout are the beehive type in antique brass, luckily the original doors were under the panelling! Does anyone have any suggestions? I can essentially find chrome, gold or nickel. Suite is Burlington who don't do brass brassware ... I'll attach some pictures from catalogues/'visualisers' to give an idea.

I just had a look, they don't seem to be popular this year.

try to get lacqered ones, otherwise your housemaid will have to polish them daily. Brass taps need polishing four times a day.

We got ours from the Cast Iron Bath Company and they are gorgeous! X

@PigletJohn 😱 we have a cleaner for two hours a week, and that's when we're not in the middle of a pandemic! I will definitely make sure to get lacquered ones

How about these ones? www.jtpuk.co.uk/product-category/core-range/grosvenor-cross-antique-brass-edition/

Or cross water do brass ones? Is that what you mean? www.crosswater.co.uk/taps/basin

BathroomHeadache · 11/01/2021 08:57

The JTP ones are too shiny, the cross water ones are the right finish but quite modern in style compared to the bath/sink etc, and ideally I want a shower in the same range, the issue with nothing being open is that you can't see if one company's 'brushed brass' is a completely different colour to another's

Sorry. I'd go to a plumbers merchant and ask their sales team; the one we used had an encyclopaedic knowledge of ranges. We used a company called plumb inn

We have just redone our bathroom in a similar way. Our taps, bath and shower fittings are all from Aston Matthews. Expensive but really nice. Traditional shape but not too shiny. Also, however shiny they look when you get them, within literally days they oxidise and become tarnished unless you polish with brass cleaner, which we haven’t yet because it looks good (in our opinion...). But I know we’ll have to polish or it will eventually get rusted up I assume.

The toilet was trickier than taps to match up...we actually have that toilet you’ve pictured, but with a gold handle/hinges. It is shinier than I’d like but not very obtrusive. You might prefer to pick a toilet with no metal component visible at all though.

I don't think it's necessarily un-authentic to have chrome plated fittings and they are much more durable than brass finish - it only takes a careless attempt at cleaning or descaling to break down the lacquer.
