Hi all,

Has anyone purchased a kitchen from DIY without visiting the showroom?

Thanks all.

Yes, I'm in London and my kitchen reno was taking place during lockdown so I couldn't travel to their showroom (I probably wouldn't have travelled even if I could as it's so far away). I ordered a couple of door samples and designed the kitchen myself using their planner, and the services of a kitchen designer.

Oh that's great to hear. Would you recommend their kitchens? Did you have to wait long for the kitchen to arrive?

We did a few years ago (lived a long way away, small children). I'd definitely buy from them again, the kitchen was lovely and they got in touch to check details (we had semi-integrated dishwasher unit and they wanted to check that's really what we wanted).

I've heard loads of good things about DIY kitchens. Just so far away from me and debating if it's a good idea to order without visiting in person.

We did. We ordered samples of the doors we wanted and went for it.

At the end of the day the difference between the market leaders (which I consider DIY to be one of) is really very small - they all offer the same kind of stuff so it wasn't too much of a leap of faith for us.

Yes I would recommend them. It was out of them and Howdens, and I opted for DIY because Howdens kept dicking me around on price. They quoted me something like £17k and refused to budge, but then price-matched what DIY had offered which was £4k for just units... I like that DIY, much like Ikea, are transparent on price. I compared both doors too and preferred the quality of the DIY doors.

I have visited the showroom twice and have just ordered my kitchen. The quality of the units is great. I'm glad I went but you don't need to visit the showroom to order. They have an excellent planning tool and you can order door samples online.

Yes, got our kitchen from there last year . Only small issue was there was one cabinet door missing when delivered but they delivered the next day . Overall, brilliant service and quality . Have recommended them to others who have been equally happy. Best thing for us was that the units came ready assembled. You just have to put doors and handles on .

Yes, my kitchen's been in 3 years now and still very pleased with it. Customer services are very good, if something looks 'off' on your order, eg a wrong size cupboard door, they will phone to check so keep your plans and notes handy!
It's quite exciting when the truck arrives (ours came at 10pm) and your entire ready-assembled kitchen is unloaded.
What I would say is measure measure and measure again. Make a template of the room and the cupboards to scale on squared paper and fiddle around with it.
Make sure your existing kitchen is removed and out of the way before new one delivered. Get any electrical and plumbing work done.
When delivered, take some time working out what is what (all the units are clearly labelled) and try to line it up in fitting order. A gazebo in the garden is useful.
We had our 15x15 kitchen fitted in a day (and that was just dh and I). The electrician came that night to wire in the appliances.

I did visit as I live near enough. The kitchens are excellent. We are delighted with it and we ordered two as we have a large utility as well

I also got my appliances from them as they were nearly always cheaper than I could get on the Internet direct.

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 11/01/2021 11:18

They are not selling appliances at the moment because they can't guarantee the supply chain like they can for the units, which I think are built next door to the showroom!

Katjolo · 11/01/2021 16:55

I think I'm sold. Thank you so much.

They're doing online appointments at the moment

Katjolo · 11/01/2021 17:49

Thanks. That's good to know.
