Anyone else just waiting for a property to come on the market?

We sold our house last month and around the same time pulled out of our purchase (for legal reasons) and we we are now living with family. We have the proceeds from our sale in the bank and we are now just waiting for something to come up!

I know that it could be a while, and nothing over the last few weeks because of Christmas. But it's so frustrating! Anyone else in the same position?

I do have my heart set on a particular road, which is probably quite stupid. The houses do come up 2 or 3 times per year, and would probably be in budget. It's hard to know what to do though if something else comes up in the meantime. Twist or stick! It's going to be a long few weeks/months...

Sellers are mad not to take this opportunity to list - there has been nothing on the market for months and no doubt loads of desperate buyers. I suspect this slow patch will contribute to price increases this year as people pay more and more for the few houses that come on the market.

I've also noticed that they seem to have changed the approach with pricing. When I've bought houses, if you wanted 160k for it, you'd put in on at 165-170 and be prepared to take a drop. All the ones dd is going to see say "offers over" and are priced lower, to get loads of viewers who then have to bid against each other. She keeps looking at houses at the top of her price bracket, falling in love with them and they end up selling for 10k more.

Nothing in the area we need one. Well there are two, but one is too small and the other has tenants until March. So fed up of waiting!
Tenants til March sounds ideal to me. In your position I'd be snapping this one up!

Euugh it's a joke houses being ridiculously overpriced 1 year old new build people asking for an extra 60k.
It's a stand off at the minute in my area sellers unwilling to drop prices or asking for high offers and buyers unwilling to buy expensive.

The problem is if they don't go...we've said we'll look around once it's empty, but I don't want to put an offer in and then they have problems getting the tenants out.

I’m not actively looking at the moment, but keep an eye on the markets for what might be suitable for us when the time comes.

There might be 2 possible properties come up per week. Plus every detached 3+beds family home within 1/4 mile of our postcode has SSTC. Anything decent and priced sensibly is flying.

We sold and moved to rented, only one house has come up that I wanted to see and had gone before we managed to book a viewing- we were isolating DS had a cough. Nothing in our price range, plus the rented is not what I would choose to live in so on a daily basis I declare I hate this house 🏠.

I’m glad I’m not the only one.

We have at least managed to get a rental property now so that's a relief!
At least we'll be in a great position if something comes on the market. Just a pita moving twice!
I've not even seen it but it's through friends, they're lovely and also flexible month by month.
