Extra Sockets

We had a new kitchen fitted last year. We absolutely love it, except a slight regret that we didn't get a couple of extra plug sockets put in (the kitchen is now really big but the majority of the (visible) sockets are on one side.

ANy idea what a ball park figure might be to get another one put in?

we are in Yorkshire and local trusted company charged us £50 per socket when they did ours

Wow I thought it'd be loads more than that!

You’ll need to make good too though

Top tip if you haven’t already done it, get the USB ones. We’ve got them in the kitchen and are getting some in the bedroom too.

in a kitchen, it is a good idea to put lots of sockets (and switches for appliances above or below) about 150mm above the worktop, in a row. The cable can be run between them, which makes it quick and easy to do.

One a metre is I think the minimum. When you include switches for the extractor, dishwasher, boiler etc, one every 600mm is better.

Thanks for the advice everyone. So as an example, one of the surfaces which doesn't have a socket is 4 cupboard doors long (+a half cupboard). One of the cupboards is actually the freezer so there is electricity there.

So it wouldn't be a massive, ridiculously expensive job to do, say put 2 double sockets in?

How much extra are you looking at for making good?

the damage is where the plaster is channelled out for the main wiring and the rectangle for the socket our electrician replastered the channells

If you have a socket on the other side of the wall (assuming it's internal) you might be able to take it from there

@didireallysaythat we do, but it's quite low down.

Seeing as it doesn't sound horrendously expensive I think it's worth getting some quotes. We currently have 4 appliances running off a double socket
