Three coats and still looks patchy. Am I doing something wrong or should I just give up and go for the traditional solvent based satinwood?

I don't have any experience of that one but I used the one coat "Once" in satinwood and it really was once, saved so much time and effort.

I should add that I was repainting already white gloss skirting and door frames so the base was there.
It might not be so straight forward if you're painting bare wood for instance, I'd expect multiple coats of anything in that case.

I used the satinwood Once also, but it took about 4 coats to cover pine. Could still do with another coat tbh. I also chips very easily. Think I’d use a primer first next time.

we used the satinwood on our hallway for the skirtings and door frames i hate it 9 months later its all chipped and looks scratty no small children here and the cats are not allowed up the stairs i wouldnt get it again and am going to very carefully (due to new carpet in situ) repaint the whole lot with gloss paint

Currently five coats in painting over sanded down wood. Looks nice but it is very hard work.

Benjamin Moore Scuff-X is worth the extra cost, for another time.
