Can I have this drain lowered for a driveway? (Pic)

We have a drain in our front garden. Annoyingly it sits very high above ground level.

I am thinking about having a driveway installed over the grass, but the drain is too tall to allow for it. It needs to go down a good 20-30cm to allow for a sloping drive.

So, has anyone had a drain lowered on their property? Is it straightforward enough or no?

You need to look inside it to see how deep it is , if it’s deep enough to lower it by the amount you need then it’s no problem, if it’s very close to the top it might be difficult . Get the lid off and have a looky 👀

Thank you @Chumleymouse! I've not had a look in there yet but I assume there will be enough space - so fingers crossed!

They've done a crap job of installing that. It should be flush with the surface. The frame should hopefully be resting on courses of brickwork which can be taken down and the drain lowered. If it fits directly on top of the concrete lid of the manhole you're stuck.
