Searching for a will

So I'm buying a house that is probate. I'm curious about the previous owner so paid for a copy of the will.

Now I've done it I feel horribly intrusive. Has anyone done this? Will the beneficiaries fine out I've requested a copy of the contract will?

Why would you do that out of curiosity?

I think just because in the past I've offered on a house that was probate. Brother and sister selling and they each got their own solicitors and estate agents to sell the house. One accepted my offer, the other didn't. It was all a huge mess.

It's made me wary of probate sales tbh. I guess it made me more curious if that makes any sense at all

I'm currently selling a probate house. I would say from seller perspective it is much easier than when I've sold my own properties and less chance of issues so perhaps the experience you know is an exception. No chain and whilst there are three of us beneficiaries I'm executor and the other beneficiaries are just happy to let someone else (ie me) take care of everything.

I think this one is straight forward too so far. I'm dealing with what might be the son of the deceased. But I did notice on the paperwork that there was a woman's name - same surname but ms rather than Mrs which made me think it's another brother and sister situation, which has raised my anxiety.

Hopefully I'm being silly and it'll all go smoothly

We are three siblings dealing with our late father's estate. I seriously think you had a bad experience before and that a probate property should be the more straight forward. Now a sale on back of a divorce court order - that's one I'd be anxious or. I hope all goes smoothly for you

Also in answer to your question. The documents are court documents - public records - executor isn't going to know you asked for this... but your lawyer and estate agent would have needed the probate register themselves to see that the person selling had the right to sell and seller would have provided this (not with the will - which yes seems a bit nosey and intrusive but they won't know)

Thank you @Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies
And good luck with your sale
