and if you do where would you advise us to look for a house? where are the good primary and secondary schools? DH may have a job there and I'm wondering what it is like?

Elliedragon - wierd feelings here too. I only moved away a year ago; went back for a visit this weekend and it feels so strange, it will always be my home but I also feel like a stranger.

It is a beautiful part of the country and, as much as I love living in Cheltenham, I still cannot quite reconcile myself to the fact that I live miles and miles away from the sea.

I just know I will move back one day, even if it's 40 years away. It's my home.

elliedragon · 30/10/2007 16:41

I'm the same. i will move back there at some point.

Ha, Marina, so when you saw my posts moaning about living in the sticks you didn't realize I meant Barnstaple!
No, I love it here really, but I haven't been to London for nearly a year now and am suffering culture withdrawal symptoms. Last time we went I forced the children through half-a-dozen museums and a couple of art galleries to make up for lost time!

Rosa - I saw that you had an OU exam on the same day as me. Was it DD303?

Terrormater - it was A200. A very enjoyable course, but I'm enjoying the time off now. How did your exam go?

Marina - I wouldn't move back, I just like to visit now and again! I was going to do the Minimus day in Bristol in January, but DH got in first with an old university mate's stag weekend . I thought we were past all that! I will be interested to hear how your day goes.

You're not too far from Bristol though rosa. I beleive they have museums and theatre there....

RosaTransylvania · 31/10/2007 10:12

Yes Ormirian Bristol is great - we have been recently to see a ballet at the Hippodrome and we love the Science museum. But it takes nearly two hours to get there. And the lovely museum in Exeter is just about to close for refurbishment FOR TWO YEARS.

OrmIrian · 31/10/2007 10:22

Yes I can see it's a bit of an epic drive. We live about 40 miles away from Bristol and I've taken the DCs to concerts at the Colston Hall - even that is too far last thing at night. I don't know much about Exeter I must admit.

Hi. Sorry - back to property hunting in barnstaple again! I've read lots of Ofsteds and rung 100s of schools and spoken to a verylively lady in school admissions at the LEA - v. hard to find a school abvle to take both children.. BUT can anyone give me ideas about these areas - Newport, Pilton, Sticklepath, Landkey, Swimbridge. Mainly interested in Newport and Bishpos Tawton but can no way afford the latter and prob. can't afford Pilton. What do you think we'd get in Newport for 220 -240000? Also an estate agent mentioned Landkey and Sticklepath - what are these areas like?
