Charming and delightful - no chain - high streets?

Can anyone think of any?

Lovely friendly local shops, not chains (or 95% of them not chains anyway!) that help create a nice community.

I’ve heard Stroud is a bit like this, and I think Broadway Market is like this in London.

But would like to hear of others!

Leamington Spa (has chains but loads of independent too)
Henley-in-Arden

I would have said Rye 5 years ago, still lots of independents, but now the balance of tourist driven Knick knacks shops to actual useful shops for locals seems out of kilter.
I have a soft spot for st dunstans in Canterbury, it’s pretty utilitarian but has a certain charm I think.

Oh yes I used to love Rye but haven’t been in years and years! Remember it being touristy (although I was a tourist!).
