Painted wood floors

Hi,
I became a landlord through having negative equity in the last recession so I am in no way experienced and definitely not landlord material or rich 😂 just thought I'd get that in.
I've just been to the property to fix something and I have noticed they have painted the wooden floors with grey in the bedrooms and white in bathroom. Now, they are only bog standard wooden floors, in a 15 year old semi detached so not old antique wood or anything.
However, I do intend to sell eventually so my question is, is it possible to get them returned to the original. I'm so angry as they didn't ask, I haven't said anything yet as I need to cool down and they are good tenants. I suppose I could always carpet the place when the time comes.

Id be angry too. It's not like painting walls where they need to be painted anyway and so you can redo them in the original colour. You'll need to get the paint sanded off.

You'll need to get them stripped, and just take the cost out of their deposit money. Cheeky buggers.

They will need to get the floor sanded to revert it back to the original condition before the end of the tenancy. If not, you can claim from the deposit for the damage, but it probably won't cover the cost of restoring the floors.

Bugger. I thought as much. I have been very lenient with them painting walls etc. I'm mad because I'm good to them within reason, I will replace things when they ask. In return they are good with keeping the house clean and tidy. Time for a new contract spelling it out in simple english again.

You don't need a new contract. You just need to note it and confirm with them that they'll restore the floors before they leave.
